Icelandic Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich

Icelandic Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich

Icelandic cuisine has strong influences from what lies in the deep blue surrounding this beautiful volcanic island. Smoked salmon being one of the most popularly eaten fish.

Today Icelanders enjoy their salmon by way of eating an Icelandic smoked salmon bagel sandwich, which is what we’re going to put together now, delicious! Or you could say “ljúffengur” if you were in Iceland.

How to Make a Icelandic Smoked Salmon Bagel Sandwich

This is a very simple bagel to make with 5 basic ingredients. Start by spreading the cream cheese onto the bagel. You can spread the cheese on both sides if you wish.

Cut some fresh dill using a small pair of scissors and sprinkle over the cream cheese layer.

Add a generous layer of smoked salmon on top of the cheese. If you can source Icelandic smoked salmon, great! If not, then any regional smoked salmon will be just fine.

Take some half cut cherry tomatoes and layer onto the smoked salmon. The tomatoes are optional here, but I personally enjoy the slight sweetness against the salmon’s saltiness.

Place the remaining bagel half on top to complete and you’re ready to serve this Icelandic style bagel.
