Ham and Cheese Croissants Recipe
One of my favorite ways to start a busy day is to enjoy a couple of croissants washed down with strong coffee.
If you’re looking for a boost to start the day try this ham and cheese croissant recipe which is quick and easy to make.
I’ve bought my croissants but you can make your own if you’re feeling adventurous.
I tend to choose the largest croissants available as they are easier to fill, and I have a big appetite in the mornings also.
To add an extra flavor to the ham and cheese filling, I glaze the top of the croissants with a honey and mustard sauce, delicious.
How to Make Ham and Cheese Croissants
We’ll start off by making the glaze. It’s just a matter of pouring a couple of tablespoons of honey into a small pan on medium heat and adding a half teaspoon of mustard.
I’ve used Dijon mustard but you can use any type of mustard you prefer.
Mix the mustard and honey together in the heated pan for a minute until the honey has taken on a mustard colouring.
Slice your croissants lengthways and gently open. Brush the glaze over the top of the croissants and add a slice of cheese and ham in the centre and fold down.
I’ve used emmental cheese as it melts really well in the oven, but again you can use whatever cheese and ham you like.
Place the prepared croissants in the oven set at around 180 degrees celsius on a baking tray and leave for around eight to 10 minutes.
Keep an eye on the croissants while in the oven to make sure the cheese doesn’t melt too much.
Remove the croissants from the oven and serve on a plate with a napkin. Once you’ve tried this recipe I can almost guarantee you’ll come back for more as they are so tasty and satisfying.
